WHERE I COME FROM

Tom Drummond was born in McKinley, Ohio, and raised in the working-class heart of the Midwest. Adopted into a loving home, he grew up with the quiet stability of traditional family life—his mother a hairdresser, his father a railroad worker. His childhood was one of discipline, freedom, and reflection: long afternoons exploring the woods, many quiet evenings fishing at the lake, early mornings at martial arts practice, and the kind of independent time that shapes a self-reliant mind.

A deeply self-reflective child, Tom learned early that life’s challenges are best met through composure and personal accountability. His values were forged through personal experience and refined by military service.

As a member of Generation X, Tom came of age in an era when corporal punishment and verbal intimidation were not only considered normal but endorsed by educators. He believes that such methods, once accepted as “discipline,” did more harm than good in shaping the moral character of students overall.

Those early observations inspired in him a lifelong conviction that genuine discipline and moral order come not from fear, but from structure, respect, and example.

EDUCATION

Tom pursued higher education with the same sense of purpose that defined his military service. He earned three degrees: a Bachelor’s in Education with an Integrated Science focus (grades 7–12), a Bachelor’s in Science from the University of Nebraska Medical College, and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS). His academic path reflects his conviction that schools are not merely places of instruction, but laboratories for cultivating discipline, virtue, and excellence.

Duty, Discipline, and Devotion

For nearly three decades, Tom dedicated his adult life to serving the nation. He is among the rare few who have served in three branches of the U.S. military: the Air Force, Navy, and Army. A qualified Navy Diver and Diving Medical Technician, he was attached to the Marine Corps during his service, providing both medical expertise and operational support.

In the second half of his career, he transitioned into medicine full-time, spending nearly fifteen years practicing primary care for service members and treating local populations abroad while deployed. Tom also provided medical coverage during two combat deployments, where he was entrusted with the health and readiness of entire battalions under demanding operational conditions.

After retiring in 2023, Tom turned his attention toward faith, family, and community. He and his wife, Aly, whom he met while both were serving in the military, were married in 2022. Together, they are raising two children (with the hope of one more) in a home that is faith-oriented, disciplined, and warm.

Tom’s life is guided by several enduring principles:

“Pursue excellence, not material things."
“Be of ridiculous service to others.”
“Transparency earns trust; accountability keeps it.”

A Father, Neighbor, and Servant Leader

As a Constitutionalist, Tom believes that freedom endures only when government remembers its limits and citizens remember their duty. He firmly believes the government exists to serve the people; the people do not exist to serve the government. His faith informs his integrity, his patriotism shapes his sense of duty, and his standard for excellence defines his leadership. He believes competence builds trust, results demonstrate value, and respect defines how accountability is delivered.

In retirement, Tom finds his greatest fulfillment in family and the simple routines that remind him what he was serving for all along. Most days, you’ll find him outside with his two young children or tossing a ball in the backyard with Blazer, the family’s golden retriever, who rarely leaves his side. When he isn’t chasing laughter around the house, Tom enjoys time at the gym, where discipline remains a daily practice, and serving within his church community. Life after service has allowed him to invest fully in the things that matter most—faith, family, and the everyday joy of being present.

His legacy is simple and profound: to leave America better than he found it—through exceptional patient care, steadfast community service, and uncompromising leadership in his family and civic life.

Tom Drummond’s campaign rests on three values that have defined his life’s work:

Competence — the ability to do something well.
Results — the proof something is done well.
Respect — accountability delivered with dignity.
